A slow glance reveals that Bean has discovered an idea. A raised eyebrow suggests that the idea may be brilliant—or incredibly dangerous. His satisfied smile appears long before there is any evidence that the plan has succeeded.
Atkinson also uses suspense brilliantly. The audience can often see disaster approaching, but Bean remains unaware until it is too late.
