The Houston Texans have made it clear that C.J. Stroud remains a central part of their long-term plans, but the quarterback’s next contract has quickly become one of the most closely watched storylines surrounding the franchise.

Back in April, the Texans exercised the fifth-year option on Stroud’s rookie contract, ensuring that the former No. 2 overall pick remains under contract through the 2027 season. The reasoning was straightforward: Houston wanted its starting quarterback to experience live-game action with his offensive line before the regular-season opener.
